Voluntary registration of disability workers will commence on 1 July 2021.
Registration aims to increase safety across the entire disability community and registered disability workers can demonstrate the safety and quality of the services they provide.
The Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria is responsible for registering disability workers and for setting the standards for registration. These standards include criminal history, continuing professional development and competency in English.
Transitional provisions will also apply for registration to 30 September 2022. Two alternate pathways will be available to workers to demonstrate that they satisfy the requirements for registration if they apply before 30 September 2022.
