Disability Safe is a comprehensive and applied program consisting of eight individual e-learning modules. The program has been designed to enhance the quality of disability services through safe work practices. It focuses on developing and expanding knowledge and understanding, in creating and participating in safe workplace environments.
Each of these units covers various driving situations and offers practical strategies to help improve driving skills such as driving to reduce risk, vehicle dynamics, merging and traffic flow, reversing, and safe following distances.
This program has been designed to influence, empower and educate a wider population to improve the health and healthcare of people with intellectual disability. Learn about best practice in the field of intellectual disability healthcare and gain knowledge to improve health outcomes for this disadvantaged group.
The course has a focus on upholding the rights of people with disability and ensuring people live their best life. It breaks down key principles the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and is underpinned by human rights principles. The course acknowledges that a commitment to the reduction of restrictive practices and applying principles of positive behaviour support are critical to every support worker's role.
