This training is about supporting people with swallowing difficulties to enjoy safe meals. The training is designed for a wide range of audiences, including people with disability, self-advocates, support workers, family members, and service managers.
This program has been designed to influence, empower and educate a wider population to improve the health and healthcare of people with intellectual disability. Learn about best practice in the field of intellectual disability healthcare and gain knowledge to improve health outcomes for this disadvantaged group.
This short course provides information on strategies to increase staff confidence and knowledge when supporting people who require meal assistance via Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG). The workshop incorporates practical demonstrations. Students completing this course will be given generalised knowledge on meal assistance via PEG, however, specific training may be necessary to meet the needs of individual support plans.
Information and resources are available to support registered NDIS provider compliance with the NDIS Practice Standard for Mealtime Management.
