Registered disability workers are required to undertake continuing professional development (CPD) activities as part of their registration.
The Board’s approved registration standard for CPD (the CPD standard) requires registered disability workers complete at least 10 hours of continuing professional development for each registration period, from 1 October 2022.
You can view our catalogue of training and development options to find courses, activities and resources to contribute towards your CPD.
You can read more information in the Continuing Professional Development factsheet: PDF / Word (accessible).
You can also read more information in the Registered disability worker continuing professional development guide: PDF / Word (accessible).
These activities should develop and improve your knowledge and skills to practice safely. Activities you complete must:
- build on your existing disability worker knowledge and skills
- be related to your area of practice
- not include any compulsory training (such as first level of first aid, first level cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or the NDIS worker orientation module).
You should include details of the activities such as:
- the courses, training or events undertaken
- the number of hours
- the name and location of the activity provider
- a summary of what you learned from the activities.
You must keep evidence of your continuing professional development activities.
You can keep a record of your continuing professional development activities in the activities log template for download on this page.
You may meet the requirements of the standard if at least 10 hours are specific to disability practice.
You can read more information about this in the continuing professional development guide below.
